Resolving Product Conveyance and Forming Issues
Smooth product flow through the forming section is essential:
-
Product Jamming/Tilting in Forming Tunnel: Caused by incorrectly adjusted tunnel width (too tight or too loose), mismatched pusher and conveyor speeds, slipping/misaligned conveyors, or out-of-spec/irregularly shaped products. Solution: Precisely adjust tunnel width/shape for the product, synchronize pusher and conveyor speeds, tighten/align conveyors, ensure products meet specifications or adjust machine tolerances.
-
Loose/Poorly Formed Packages: Results from excessive film length (too much film fed), inadequate shrinking (see Article 4), or a forming tunnel that is too wide. Solution: Reduce film feed length, address shrinking problems (improve heat/timing/airflow), slightly narrow the forming tunnel.
Key Adjustment: The forming tunnel is crucial. It should gently shape the film snugly around the product without causing drag or jamming. Regularly check for wear on tunnel guides.
